We are bringing together researchers from across the Midlands for a series of three themed sandpits between November 2021 and April 2022 focused on the inclusion, well-being, and autonomy of people living with cognitive impairments and learning disabilities. These events will build on the success of our initial ACTInG research networking day in July 2021.
The goal of the sandpit days is to produce new interdisciplinary collaborations and project proposals that will lead to the production of one or more large project bids within the framework—and with the support of—the Midlands Innovation Inclusive Transformation programme.
We will run three events with the following proposed themes:
- November 2021: Digital learning and training: technologies and methods
- January 2022: Multimodal impairments (sensory/motor/cognitive) & technology use
- March 2022: TBC
We are very open to proposals for parallel themes or sub-themes for each sandpit day.
Who is the day for?
- PhD researchers will have the opportunity to develop new practical skills, in project design, research funding, interdisciplinary collaborative research and writing.
- People living with cognitive impairments will have the opportunity to participate in shaping research agendas, requirements and research projects from the outset.
- Practitioners, government, and healthcare professionals will have the chance to reflect on their work and engage with hands-on research and project development.
- Established academics will have the opportunity to collaborate responsive and high-impact interdisciplinary projects, publications, and funding proposals.
